Asus announces the F8 Infusion laptop

Filed under:

Our good buddies over at Asus have decided to get all press-release-y on us about the F8 “Infusion” laptops which we mentioned recently. According to the very busy manufacturer, the 14.1-inch widescreen laptop is going to feature the ubiquitous Santa Rosa 965 chipset, a selection of Intel’s Core 2 Duo processors (T7700, T7500, T7300, T7100), and will sport 802.11a/g/n connectivity. Additionally, you can expect either an ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 or an NVIDIA GeForce8600M GS for graphics, up to 2GB of RAM, a SATA hard drive up to 160GB, plus a built-in webcam, hybrid TV tuner, and fingerprint reader. No word yet on pricing or availability, but you’ll know when we do.

BenQ offers up 10 megapixel E1000 point-and-shoot

Filed under:

With BenQ executives somewhat preoccupied with keeping their own asses out of jail, and the company’s camera division having been turned over to Ability Enterprises at the end of June, it’s hard to say who’s really responsible for the latest camera to bear the troubled Taiwanese manufacturer’s name. Whoever designed the 10 megapixel DC-E1000, though, seems to have done a pretty good job, taking a cue from the handsome design of the P860 and adding such desirable features as face tracking (up to nine people), a 3-inch LCD, and digital image stabilization. Other specs — like the 3x optical zoom and claimed 1600 max ISO — are certainly nothing groundbreaking, and we’re assuming that pricing will reflect that fact when these go on sale in China later this month.

Logitech’s G9 mouse and G15 keyboard get official

Logitech, makers of more input devices than you can shake a USB stick at, officially announced the somewhat radical G9 mouse and an update to its keyboard companion, the G15. The mouse, if you’ll recall, is a bit innovative as it allows for interchangeable grips, adjustable weight, and can store setting profiles onboard which require no added drivers to utilize. The G15, in a similar fashion, allows for all sorts of customizable options, including 18 separate programmable “G” keys, which can be setup for a total of 54 macros. The keyboard also includes an LCD display, which Logitech feels will give “gamers critical information to help them win,” because we all know there’s nothing more helpful when gaming than to have to look away from the monitor. The G9 and G15 will be available in September for $99.99 each.
