Chinavision set to offer waterproof portable video player

Chinavision already has a portable video player you can take almost everywhere, but those that absolutely need access to low res video at all times might want to consider the company’s new waterproof digital video player, which’ll let you get in a little small screen viewing at depths up to 10 feet. Apart from that questionably useful feature, however, this player appears to be decidedly low end, with a 1.8-inch 128 x 128 resolution display, 1GB of internal memory, and support for all the basic audio/video formats, although video’s restricted to a mere 15 fps. No word on price, but it’s apparently “coming soon.”

PS3 to receive tuner, DVR capabilities before March 2008

It’s been rumored before, now Sony’s marketing manager for Computer Entertainment in New Zealand has apparently, and likely pre-emptively, unveiled Sony’s intentions to turn the PS3 into a digital video recorder. Sony’s Warwick Light is quoted in an interview with New Zealand’s The Press as saying, “We’re also hoping next year – about the same time that Freeview launches its terrestrial broadcasting service (expected to be in March) – to release a digital tuner for the PS3, turning it into a programmable TV recorder.” Sure, why not, but we’re going to need a hell of a lot more than 80GB or 120GB of storage to make that thing useful for HD recordings.

Showbiz Pizza’s Rock-afire Explosion hacked to rap on stage

Filed under:

Hacking your Roomba to sing and dance is one thing, but reprogramming The Rock-afire Explosion animatronic robot band to belt out rap tunes is undoubtedly on another level. Ripped straight from Showbiz Pizza Place, Fatz Geronimo and crew have apparently been reworked to perform Ms. New Booty, a less than flattering (but entirely comical) piece. So if you’re in desperate need of a midday laugh, be sure and check out the video after the break.
