BenQ debuts super-slim DC-T800 8 megapixel fashioncam

Filed under:

BenQ’s really pulling out all the stops with its new DC-T800 camera, a followup to that T700 camera it was showing off in March. The T800 adds an extra megapixel… and not a whole lot else. In its defense, the T700 was already a pretty well appointed camera, with a 3-inch touchscreen and “super shake-free” functionality, and there’s nothing wrong with adding a megapixel to that 0.59-inch thick getup. The T800 also boasts of Face Tracking, in-camera photo editing, 2000 ISO photos, 6400 ISO movies and 30fps 640 x 480 MPEG-4 recording. You should be able to find the T800 just about everywhere that isn’t the US sometime in October.

Dymo’s DiscPainter skips the labels, inks directly to disc

Filed under:

Those fed up with printing out circular labels and hoping to get things lined up when customizing a CD can finally look forward to a (relatively) cost effective alternative. Dymo’s DiscPainter, which is slated to land sometime this fall, reportedly inks your designs directly to the disc in around 60 seconds at 600dpi, while doubling the resolution is said to increase the wait time to a still-reasonable three minutes. Additionally, the device looks to work with both Windows and OS X-based machines, and will come bundled with one ink cartridge for $279.

Tesla scales range targets back up

Filed under:

It looks like the folks at Tesla are getting a little more confident in their all-electric and all-sold-out Roadster, as The New York Times is now reporting that the company has bumped its range targets back up to around 245 miles per charge. As you might recall, this follows a scaling back of range targets to just 200 miles per charge back in April, when the company’s original estimates fell by the wayside when the car hit the dynamometer. One thing that’s apparently not being pushed up, however, is the car’s release date, with The New York Times also reporting that the initial run of 600 cars will now only “begin production late this year,” making that promised roll out by the end of the year a bit of a tight proposition.

NVIDIA to announce Intel-compliant integrated graphics chips

Filed under:

The latest development in the soap opera that is the PC components industry sees NVIDIA expanding beyond its usual focus on AMD systems to offer new integrated graphics solutions designed for Intel-based desktops. Reuters reports that the upcoming GeForce 7050, 7100, and 7150 will be compatible with current and upcoming Intel chips, ship in machines priced from $400 to $600, and are said to “give the performance of an entry-level separate graphics processor unit” — a claim we’ll be interested to see tested. Now that NVIDIA is taking direct aim at the world’s largest chipmaker, we wouldn’t be at all surprised to see Intel strike back in the discrete graphics space — and then it doesn’t take much to imagine NVIDIA retaliating once again by whipping up its own line of CPUs, does it?
