HP’s Envy lineup was introduced way back in the dark ages of last decade, so it’s clearly due for a significant update. In all seriousness, the refresh that popped up today for both rigs probably has a lot more to do with Intel’s Arrandale unveiling than anything else, but whatever the case, we’ll take it. The Envy 15 now starts at just $1,299.99 (down from $1,699.99), and it includes Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit), a 2.4GHz Core i5-520M processor, 4GB of DDR3 memory and a downright delicious 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5830. The 13-incher has seen its base price lowered by $300 to just $1,499.99, with specs now including a 1.6GHz Core 2 Duo SL9300, an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 (512MB) and a 4-cell battery. Both models can be customized right now, but you should probably wait ’til CES concludes before making any rash decisions about the here and now.
[Thanks, Sean]

We’d heard that Navigon would be bringing navigation to Android, and here at CES it’s gone one better: MobileNavigator is coming to Android and Windows Mobile. The app will feature Navigon’s trademark Reality View Plus view and Lane Assistant Pro features on both platforms, and it’ll sell for $89 on WinMo starting now ($69 until Valentines Day), and launch for Android in the spring.

It’s been a (blazing) hot minute since we’ve heard a good word from the folks at WiebeTech, but lo and behold, it’s hitting back with a new portable hard drive case here at CES. The ToughTech Secure mini is described as a 2.5-inch encrypted external HDD enclosure, and with four interfaces to choose from (FireWire 800, FireWire 400, USB 2.0 and eSATA), you should be set when it comes time to connect it. ‘Course, we wish SuperSpeed USB 3.0 were represented here, but we guess that’ll have to wait until next year. The case ships with a USB encryption key that’s meant to keep your information safe from prying eyes, and the rugged aluminum chassis should protect it from most bumps and bruises. There’s no mention of a price, but the full specification list awaits you just past the break while you wait for a February ship date.

Well, we’re hearing this morning — from Eldar Mertazin — that Samsung’s upcoming
Bada S8200 and
Galaxy2 specs may well match the Nexus One. Nothing solid, of course, but it would seem they’ll both be running the
Snapdragon at 1GHz, feature 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreens, WiFi, GPS, HSPA, and 5 megapixel cams. The Galaxy2 will purportedly ring in at €450 (roughly $650) and the S8200 in the €400 ($575) range. So with that — admittedly slim — bit of info out of the way, all we can do is just sit back, relax, and wait for Samsung’s boasting to begin.
