It wasn’t too hard to see this one coming after reports of “financial difficulties” and a potential early demise starting cropping up
last month, but it looks like AT&T’s
CruiseCast in-car satellite service is now officially done for. According to RaySat COO Mike Grannan (AT&T’s partner in the service), all new activations have now ceased, and existing customers will soon apparently be able to get a refund for the cost of installation, de-installation, equipment and service. For those keeping track, the service just
launched in June of this year and, while no installed base numbers seem to be available, it doesn’t appear to have caused much more than a blip on the radar, with it hindered in part by a hefty $1,300 up-front cost.

HD movie downloads set for PS3
Bang & Olufsen may be irrelevant to those with annual salaries having fewer than six digits to the left of the decimal (or comma, if that’s how you roll), but even the laypeople can’t help but drool at a spectacle such as this. The BeoVision 10 has just landed down across the pond at Electric Pig, and they were kind enough to snap a few shots and show ‘em to the world. The £6,000 price tag is definitely a stunner, but those lucky enough to lay eyes on it have said that it just might be worth it — if money ain’t a thang, you know.

Orange on iPhone proposition continues to disappoint.
digg_url = ‘http://digg.com/apple/Apple_rejects_app_because_it_has_iPhone_in_the_name’; The iPhone App Store’s arbitrary and inconsistent approval process continues to baffle and annoy on every level, as Macworld Editor-in-Chief Jason Snell just had his iPhone book rejected… for using the word “iPhone” in the title. Apparently Apple doesn’t like app names or icons to include the word iPhone or images of the iPhone — which arguably makes sense on some level — but you’d think a freaking iPhone reference manual would warrant an exception, wouldn’t you? Making matters worse, it appears that one Mr. David Pogue didn’t have this problem, as his iPhone: The Missing Manual was approved with title and icon intact. Sigh. Phil Schiller — deploy!
Update: And just like that, Apple has reversed its stance and approved the app unchanged. Internet high-fives all around. [Warning: iTunes link]
