We’ll be honest with you: we don’t read the GP32X board nearly as often as we’d like — but we did manage to cull from its archive this cold, hard fact: Pandora is now going to ship with 256MB of beautiful, delicious RAM, AND 512MB of flash memory — that’s double what we initially were told to expect, and Craigix confirmed that Ubuntu is now running 20 percent faster with the upgrade. This windfall comes at no additional cost to the patient, patient consumer. Our advice though? Next time there’s a seriously righteous spec bump happening, try not to couch it in a riddle.
[Thanks, Jared E]

Intel’s Linux-based
Moblin OS may have lost some considerable ground to Windows XP in the netbook space, but it looks like the company is far from ready to throw in the towel, and it’s now getting a bit of a helping hand from the Taiwan government. Apparently, the government will be helping Intel open up a new development center in Taiwan, which will be tasked with furthering the development of the OS and, hopefully, attract the interest of local companies like ASUS and Acer. Any further specifics are expectedly a bit light at the moment, but the development center is apparently on the fast-track, with it reportedly set to open in December of this year.

Just in time for the big (if somewhat quirky)
G1 unlocking, Android fans in the UK will be getting their chance to purchase the T-Mobile handset starting today. Britons began queuing up on Oxford Street as early as 5 am to get the phone, currently available for free with a 2-year £40 ($65) monthly contract. And if that wasn’t exciting enough,
The Gadget Inspectors went to Google’s London HQ for a hands-on review (
nothing new to Engadget die-hards, but it’s interesting to see what they make of the device). Video after the break.

We’ve all been waiting patiently for Windows Mobile 7 to drop since the crust of the Earth was still cooling, and it this point, Windows 7 proper could theoretically beat it out of the gate. What’s a perpetually delayed platform to do, then? Come up with another stop-gap measure, of course. Windows Mobile 6.1 was designed to plug some short-term holes in 6, and it’s looking now like there could be a 6.5 waiting in the wings to plug a few more. Nothing has really been revealed about the mysterious, heretofore-unknown version, but Motorola CEO mentioned it in passing during the company’s earnings call today while discussing the fact that 6.1 really hasn’t been able to keep pace with Apple in the “user experience” department. Would it be totally naive of us to hope for a little Xbox Live Anywhere in there?

Lenovo first announced a 3G add-on from AT&T and Ericsson for some of its laptops a few months ago, but it’s now out there tooting its mobile broadband horn once again, and saying that the three companies are now making the option even cheaper and more widely available. According to Lenovo, the built-in 3G option is now available in all three of its SL series ThinkPads, as well as every single model in its T and X series and, what’s more, it’s also now $150 cheaper than before, or about the same price as an equivalent non-3G-equipped laptop. Of course, you will have to sign up for AT&T’s DataConnect service, but the carrier is at least throwing in 30 days of free service to help ease you in.
