HTC’s US Touch Diamond now shipping from Best Buy

Filed under:

It’s no shock to see a US 3G-enabled Touch Diamond showing up at Best Buy (unlike the hamstrung sibling over at CompUSA) — though we can’t say we were expecting the big box retailer to start shipping this soon. If its website is to be believed (read: don’t book it just yet), the unlocked Touch Diamond 3G you’re about to order for $699.99 will leave Best Buy’s warehouse within one business day. If that’s not cool with you, you can also pick it up “at most stores.” Shame there’s no white option listed…

Switched On: The Mo’ hardware Experiment

Filed under:

Each week Ross Rubin contributes Switched On, a column about technology, multimedia, and digital entertainment.

What do people think of Windows Vista when they learn more about some of its features? To find out, we located three people who had been living in a cave around the time of the massive advertising campaign at Vista’s launch and started out by asking them what they thought of Windows Vista.

Subject 2:
“I’ve heard that Windows Vista gives you scabies.”

Then we told them about some of the great hardware that Windows Vista supports.

Gateway’s new MC Series shown off, signs of life spotted

Filed under:

No bull whatsoever — we’re really digging this so-called MC Series that Gateway’s busy showing off in Budapest. According to Laptop Mag, who was on hand for the event, the family is designed to go after those mildly spectacular HDX rigs from HP and Sony’s FW crew. The model on display was packing a 16-inch widescreen LCD, color customizable lid with a leather strip running down its center, a backlit keyboard and a brushed metal palm rest. Also of note, editors spotted both AMD and Intel-powered versions, and while no pricing information was available, we’re told to keep an eye out for a November release. Head south to the read link for more pictures and a hands-on vid.

G1 appears on T-Mobile’s site

Filed under:

Snap — looks like the Android-powered T-Mobile G1 is peeking out a little early in the form of a non-working pre-registration link on the my.t-mobile.com customer portal. No specs or info, but if you had any doubt this thing was coming on Tuesday we’d say it just got cleared up. Get ready for the Googlephone, kids.

[Thanks, RionSTL and Mike]
