HP may have let loose most of its new laptops in one fell swoop during the Santa Rosa madness last week, but it looks like it still has a few stragglers to push out the door, introducing a pair of budget-priced models in its new HP 530 series today (a follow-up to the 510). True to their budget nature, these two miss out on the Santa Rosa upgrade, although that adherence to yesterday's tech will at least save you quite a bit of cash. On the lowest of the low end, the $549 GH635AT model packs a 1.46GHz Celeron M 410 processor, Intel's 940GML Express chipset, 802.11b/g WiFi, and a DVD/CD-RW combo drive. Dropping $699 for the GH640AT model will upgrade that to a 1.6GHz T2050 Core Duo processor, Intel's 945GM Express chipset, 802.11a/b/g WiFi, a dual-layer DVD burner, and Windows Vista Business (as opposed to Home Basic). Both laptops are otherwise identical, packing the same 15.4-inch WXGA display, 512MB RAM (expandable to 2GB), and 80GB hard drive. If that'll do, you should soon be able to snag either one of these laptops from all the usual HP resellers.

Let's face it, it's not exactly feasible (or safe) to rock the kid to sleep whilst manning the wheel down I-5, which is why you should seriously look Britax's way for your next baby-related purchase. This luxurious car seat reportedly sports a "Reflection Sound System" that cranks out tunes around the infant's head, and while we all know it's just a ploy to keep the youngster from wailing any longer, the manufacturer is boasting about the mental benefits of piping Bach into your kiddo's brain at an early age. Portable sounds aren't the only thing it's got going for it, however, as the safety factor is also pretty high considering the well-padded surroundings, height adjustable head guard, automatic shoulder belt adjusting device, and a soft mat on the bottom to protect your whip's interior. Click on through for another snapshot while you mull over the â‚©710,000 ($767) pricetag -- hey, there's only 364 days 'til Mother's Day, right?

Beating the rest of the field to the punch, Samsung dropped the SyncMaster 225U today, the first official product designed to interface with Microsoft's Office Communicator 2007 IM / VoIP / PBX "unified communications" suite we saw unveiled in beta form just a couple days ago. The 22-inch monitor has a pretty average panel -- 1680 x 1050 resolution, 5ms response time, a 700:1 contrast ratio, and just 300 nits of brightness -- but the real noise is in the built-in 2.0 megapixel webcam, microphone, and stereo speakers, which plug into the Communicator software and then serve as a replacement for that bulky deskphone in your office. No word yet on pricing or availability, but expect to see a slew of Communicator products in the future.

Update: Samsung PR tell us that the SyncMaster 225U will be available in June for $449.

Though we're still not convinced SureType is worth the trouble (especially when beauts like the new Curve are kicking around), rumor has it RIM is hard at work on the 8100 Pearl's successor, the aptly-numbered 8120. Expect features to include a 2 megapixel camera (up from the Pearl's 1.3 megapixel unit), integrated GPS, and the long-overdue WiFi support RIM's been spouting off about as of late. If this all pans out, we can apparently expect Canada's Rogers -- a GSM carrier with 3G capabilities -- to get it in September of this year with an unnamed US carrier grabbing it a week before that in black, red, "titanium," blue, and gold.

Although we can't be certain if Andy and Tina Szeto attended a Wii marriage counseling session before tying the knot, the television crazed couple did invite a healthy helping of TiVo to join in their matrimonial celebration. Granted, they did stop short of rocking interactive wedding attire, but the two lovebirds did indeed have a pair of his and her TiVo cakes proudly perched beside the more traditional rendition, and to show its appreciation, TiVo actually donated a plethora of smiling plush dolls as party favors. Not to be sold short, the company also gave each member in attendance their own felt TiVo ears for maximum geekness all around, and created quite the marketing scene in the process. Hey, we've definitely seen worse cakes at a shindig before, so click on through for more pictures of the obsessive ceremony.
